Through our Financial Assistance programs, our Case Managers are able to provide direct support to individuals and families experiencing crises. We understand that very often the challenges our community members face are beyond their current control to navigate and resolve. In 2022, our Case Managers encountered many families and individuals struggling to make ends meet. Not only are our clients faced with rising living expenses, unaffordable housing prices and low wages, but an unforeseen circumstance can lead to making an already difficult situation all the more challenging. Our Emergency Financial Assistance programs focus on supporting community members’ efforts to maintain their housing, employment and utilities.
In 2022, we distributed over $100,000 in direct assistance to individuals and families experiencing financial hardships.
100% of your zakat donations are redistributed to individuals and families in our community.
Through the generosity of our donors, we have been blessed to be able to step in to provide a glimpse of hope, to alleviate some stress, and allow individuals and families the opportunity to recuperate at their own pace.

At Sahaba Initiative, we offer two financial assistance programs to support individuals and families. Our team works collaboratively to ensure that any community members who access these services are given continued support, whether through our other programs or through referrals to additional services in the community.
Community members experiencing urgent and emergency financial need can apply for financial assistance through available zakat funding. Zakat funding is available for community members who meet income requirements and who identify as Muslim.
Through our partnership with United Way of Greater Los Angeles, eligible community members can apply for one-time per year grants towards their SoCal Edison and/or SoCalGas bill(s) fully funded through SoCal Edison and SoCalGas.
Assistance with a SoCal Edison bill is available year-round, while assistance with a SoCalGas bill is only available for a limited time each year.
